Coming Changes to FLEX ** DISREGARD IF YOU DO NOT USE THE FLEX APPLICATION ** Mullins, Jeffery C. 10 Feb 2025 15:07 EST
On Feb 25, 2025, Spillman will be updated to version 2024.4 beginning at 10 AM. Downtime is expected to be 1 hour according to Motorola, but preparations should be made for up to 4 hours.

Please see below for information regarding the update.

Beginning in October 2024, the FBI mandated that any information system that directly receives Criminal Justice Information (CJIS) must implement two factor authentication (2FA) as part of its login process. FLEX is a system that directly receives CJIS which requires that Randolph County implement the 2FA requirement. We will do so by using Time-Based One Time Passwords (TOTP). This method is implemented in products such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, and DUO. We will begin rolling out 2FA to all agencies sometime this year. I will be sending out more information regarding this requirement at a later date.

  *
Mobile Mapping will change in 2025. I will be sending out more information regarding this at a later date.

  *
NFIRS has been retired from the FLEX application. All Fire agencies should be using their own solution to report NFIRS or have migrated to ImageTrend.

  * .NET 8 SDK is required by the FLEX client. Randolph County agencies will have this requirement installed automatically. All other agencies will need to download the SDK from https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/8.0__;!!Cf0W_uKtjjI!u0H6IBN1TtxWqFWmdvqOmgvbwBa_cCWZA9oBCKnXlTVINhZEi4G1JxPc7yPofCYHdkb5uaRXPOEsD5MDbKjMM-oBez3JupXU1DNygIOwjLdKIY43_cs$ Be sure to select the 64-bit version as shown below. Any computer running FLEX must have this requirement installed before 2-25-2025.

  * All connections to FLEX must be encrypted and pass certificate verification. This is configured using the FLEX login screen. When FLEX first starts, tap Edit Server, then ensure Server is set to SPILLMAN.RANDOLPHCOUNTYNC.GOV, Port is set to 4443 and Encrypted is checked (see screenshots). Configuration name can be anything.

When starting the application for the first time after the update, please start the FLEX application FIRST to ensure the application updates correctly.
