Subject: **Viper Outage 11/7/2018 @ 9AM***
Importance: High

Good Afternoon,

On Wednesday, November 5, 2018 at approximately 9AM, Viper will taking the Asheboro DOT Tower offline for maintenance. This outage will last for about 2 hours. During this time, no radio will be transmitting through the Asheboro DOT Tower.
The radios are programmed to automatically change tower sites with situations like this but we need to be prepared in case they don’t. Below are pictures of a portable and mobile radio. Portable radio users will need to push and hold the purple button (above the Push To Talk Button) for about 2 seconds (until they hear a beeping noise). This will force the portable radio to search for another tower to connect to. For mobile radio users, they will need to scroll with the arrow buttons until they see a name that says, “RSSI.” They will push and hold the button below that name for at least 2 seconds (until they hear a beeping noise). This will force the mobile radio to search for another tower to connect to.
Some radios may not be able to affiliate to any other tower besides the Asheboro DOT Tower. Any radios that are mainly used in a building environment will have issues. The Randolph County Jail will have the most issues. Users will need to make sure the portable radios are on the MDVR channel at the Jail and that a portable radio must be placed in Central on that channel as well. This will ensure that all radios in the Jail will be able to communicate with each other.

If you experience issues or have any questions, Major Buxton and myself will be available to talk with you and assist the best we can. Please call us at 336-318-6789. If you cannot reach us from that number, please contact communications.

Also, please forward this email to anyone who may need this information.
