RE: Storm Update McCorquodale, Christie D. 01 Oct 2022 12:13 EDT

Thanks Erik for the update to our fire departments and I completely agree, I appreciate all the hard work from all sides. There are a few things we all need to work on as there is always room for improvement. We are going to make it great!

I want to take this opportunity to ask of you, the fire departments, to gather your information concerning expenditures during the storm. This should include run and idle times for all equipment. It needs to be broken down in hours and type of equipment (make & model of vehicles, etc). Any damage you or your equipment sustained. And hours spent by personnel (needs to be full time OT and volunteer).

The calls you ran that had significant damage such as trees on houses, I would like to ask that you let me know about those. Those individuals may be able to claim individual assistance later from FEMA. The damage is so wide spread it will be hard for EM to do a windshield assessment without this information.

I am headed out of town for the week. Evan is oncall and can assist if needed. I will be available by email and cell phone so don't hesitate to contact me if you need to.

I appreciate each of you,
Christie McCorquodale

Subject: Storm Update

Good Morning Chiefs,

I want to take a moment to say a huge THANK YOU for your efforts last night and to provide a brief update of last night events. Our 911 center and EOC staff received over 300 calls between 15:00 and 20;00 hours alone. Attached you will find the Sit-Rep report provided by Chief Davis at 20:30 hours last night. I will provide additional data next week. As expected, the transition to storm mode was a little hectic as usual. For some of our 911 employees, this was their first event of this magnitude. None the less, both 911 and the EOC was well staffed and our employees worked very hard and I am extremely proud of their efforts. Our leadership will meet next week to debrief the event and work on improvement on our end. We will also be providing information and suggestions to the fire departments that will hopefully improve our storm mode plan. As always, please feel free to reach out to me with any suggestions, comments, complaints etc. Your input will only make us better. THANKS AGAIN to all of you for your hard work.

Sincerely,

Erik
