Subject: New Process for EMR/EMT Credentialling
The process for renewing EMR/EMT certifications with Randolph County has officially changed. Effective immediately we will no longer require a Technical Scope of Practice and Protocol Exam for Fire Department personnel. Once the personnel have met the training hour requirement, they will be able to be renewed through the state.
Fire departments that are administering Narcan and or Epinephrine (draw up only) will continue to be required to complete a Narcan /Epi administration training every 2 years in order to receive a prescription for the continued purchase of these medications.
NC Zoo personnel will be required to attend Randolph County EMS annual TSOP’s that are currently held every October. They will also be required to complete a Protocol exam due to the expanded scope of practice approved by the Medical Director.
The earlier transcripts are sent in for review, the more time personnel will have to make up any training hours they are lacking. Transcripts of training hours must be sent to Randolph County for review within 60 days of the expiration. This will allow the training department enough time to review the transcripts and notify the personnel if they are deficient of training hours.
Please Remember that it is imperative that each fire department has an accurate and up to date roster in Continuum. All EMR’s and EMT’s that are currently credentialed should be listed on the department roster. The roster must be updated with any changes in personnel or certifications (i.e. personnel with expired credentials). If anyone would like assistance in updating the roster, please feel free to contact me.
